Description

Speech of President George Washington to the 3rd U.S. Congress, 2nd Session. Addresses several topics, including: the Whiskey Rebellion, and hostile Indians in Georgia, the Southwest, and Northwest. On the topic of the national debt, Washington urges that Congress take steps "to prevent that progressive accumulation of debt, which must ultimately endanger all governments." Washington also expresses gratitude that gold and silver are coming into the U.S. mint for coinage.
